I continuously attend sales trainings and seminars to grow me personally. When I started my career, I always knew continuous training and upgrading of skills and even technology is the key to being a success.

Even know as a sales mentor and business consultant, I still do my best to learn a lot. I read books daily. Most of them, are close to my beliefs which is being a Christian, and also business and success books.

I devour books everyday to extend myself and really learn knew things. Even much more greater is that, I also get new ideas from reading books and applying it in my life. Which in that aspect alone, makes me head and shoulders above others.

Also I assign a portion of my income not only to spend on needs and vacations; I also assign a portion of my income for investing in trainings and seminars.

Now I personally do my own seminars and coaching events, but I have never forgotten the value of continuous growth through training and attending valuable seminars from people that I really respect.

So the remember that always as sales people, we need to continuously seek training both internally (in your company) and externally (other sources). If your company does not provide for you, it is my suggestion that you seek on your own.

Happy selling,

Sales Mentor Online
Jake The Manhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04318814249020441013noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-935365342823725455.post-65719062155423232492013-07-30T06:46:00.000-07:002013-07-30T06:46:07.461-07:00What Sales Career to Start With - Choosing the Right Sales CareerAfter having an idea on what to sell or choosing the "right" industry for you, which brings me to our next sales training topic which is "where to start your sales career".

I often here this line a lot from beginning sales people, "I enjoy selling but I don't think I'm in the right industry".

From experience alone, I can tell that this where we draw the line from professional salespeople and "just-salespeople". It is where we separate the boys from the men, as they say.

Why? Because technically if you are a true-blood sales professional you can sell anything and anywhere. Of course there are many factors to consider in really entering a sales career.

First and foremost like I always say everybody can sell. With the right training and technology to match the product/service, everybody can really sell. But being in the right industry makes your sales career a lot easier.

The first few things you need to consider is your point of enjoyment or interest. If you passionately talk about it, most likely selling products related to your passion is way easier to sell.

Next advantage is that being updated on your field/industry is vital in a sales career. And when your passion is on that industry, it is almost natural to you to get updated of the industry.

Although in most cases you don't get to choose who employs you, but when you have done or had a good tenure in a sales career, on moving forward you can already start choosing.

And best yet, start choosing now. Good luck on your sales career.

Happy Selling,

Sales Mentor Online
Jake The Manhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04318814249020441013noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-935365342823725455.post-55318644263795848872013-07-22T02:52:00.000-07:002013-07-22T02:52:21.559-07:00Selling is Just an Idea Away - As well as BusinessIt all starts with an idea.

In any business venture, it all starts from an Idea. Whether conceptually correct or not, I don't care. Business comes from ideas.

Everyone has an idea. Making it into a business, now that's a different story.

But I like to focus on the concept of having an idea. Why? Because again we all have ideas. And "sell" to as many people as we like.

Yeah, we "sell" of sorts of ideas. From our favorite movies, actors, cards, banks, restaurants, hobbies, and even sport icons. We tell people about everything we think of often.

This is actually one of the main reasons why I believe selling is a natural skill for everyone. It goes to say that for you to learn to sell, you have to love the idea. Or in this case the product/service that you are offering.

My first job as a regular sales person started with this. I sold ice cream. And men, did I love ice cream (who doesn't?). And I believe one of the main reasons that I was successful my selling career is because I always sold what I wanted to sell.

I guess, for employees it's a bit harder. Because you don't get to choose the products that your company wants you to sell. But irregardless, just remember to sell with idea.

Let be the first comeback lesson for sales mentor online.

Happy selling,

Sales Mentor Online
Jake The Manhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04318814249020441013noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-935365342823725455.post-46296954618364646642013-07-19T02:19:00.000-07:002013-07-19T02:19:18.385-07:00Sales Mentor Online is Still Here - It is here to Stay for GOOD!It is quite inspiring that after a few years sales mentor online is still here. This friend is also in the sales industry, and is also a fellow sales mentor to his team as well.

With my friend, I noticed something different from many salespeople that is very uncommon which being “marketing by default”.

What do I mean by “marketing by default”?

It means that he markets his company with no BS, no Hype, and in fact without any promotional strategies. He markets and sells so naturally, that he doesn’t seem to be selling at all. Some clients that has lately close didn’t even that he already close them.

I may sound to be exaggerating here, but I’m telling the truth. He his that good at selling.

In reality the difference is in his attitude towards his selling. He genuinely believes in what he sells. He is a walking marketing material himself.

So my sales mentor lesson for today is simple. Be a marketing campaign for your own product. If your product is a perfume, use that brand of perfume everyday. If your product is a health product then use that product. (Of course this given that the product you are using is good for your health.)

So go ahead and use this simple but very effective technique. Be a marketing merchandise by default.Jake The Manhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04318814249020441013noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-935365342823725455.post-80653485842839831312011-06-26T06:33:00.000-07:002011-06-26T06:33:24.015-07:00Pilipinas Got Talent Season 2 Grand Champion

It was quite a long competition on Pilipinas Got Talent (PGT) season 2 and finally we have a winner.

The person with the most talent and the most cunning attitude is to be announced tonight, but I am making my own declaration of winners. Yup, as a sales mentor I am not only good at mentoring you on your selling skills, but I am very opinionated as well. Hehehe

Well, I have only 3 bets on Pilipinas Got Talent season 2 and they were all difficult choices. And I will be writing about them and ranking them from 3rd place and grand champion.

My 3rd placer for Pilipinas Got Talent season 2 would be Rico the Magician. He shows great form and definitely some unique magic. Just like what Mr. Rico said he has shown magic that no magician has known all over the world. And the reason that Mr. Rico is just third place because he showed the “stabbing act” which was already done often in magic around the world.

For the second and grand champion of PGT season 2, it’s really a difficult choice. Yet in any competition there has to be one winner. My two choices are “The Madrigal Siblings” and Marcelino Pomoy. But the 2nd placer for me would be the Madrigal Singers.

Why? Simply because I think the kind of singing that they do should be done in Broadway not in competitions like Pilipinas Got Talent season 2. And besides their voicing really had oneness in it but there were really pitchy notes especially in the end part.

Obviously, you now know who my Pilipinas Got Talent season 2 grand champion is. It’s is no other than songbird Marcelino Pomoy. In the start of his singing on the last episodes of PGT, I really didn’t like his voice. He was always singing in falsetto. He couldn’t keep up with his breathing. And sounded like a man trying to be Regine Velasquez. But as he sang yesterday; when I heard his natural voice, I heard the real voice that he had. So kudos to Marcelino Pomoy for being Pilipinas Got Talent season 2 grand champion.

So enjoy relieving his singing moment on yesterday’s championship round. See you for more selling lessons.

In my experience in selling, I noticed that most sales presentations lack what I call icings on the cake. These “icings” are so important that it increases your sales closing percentage to at least 15%. These “icings” if used properly will often be compelling enough to close the sale.

Below are my lists of “icings” that I personally use in my sales presentations:

1. Make the presentation relevant to your prospect.

Almost any salesperson can make a good presentation if just trained well but not every can convert their presentation as relevant to the prospect as possible.

2. Create a good relationship between your product/service towards your prospect.

We all know that in this world relationships will be one of the main factors of success. So if you can create a good relationship between your prospect and your product and include it in your sales presentation that would be one very convincing “icing” why the prospect will buy.

3. Be brief but full of meat.

In this very fast phase of the technology age, time to each person is something so valuable that we tend to fight over it. So make sure that your sales presentation is brief enough to hit a home run and meaty enough to top off the spaghetti.

4. Be as animated as possible.

An average human being has attention span of 3-4 minutes, so you need to include in your presentation animated ways to keep the person’s eyeballs focused on your presentation. But don’t overdo it though; it should be a balance between being animated enough and not boring as well.

5. Stress a need in every aspect.

I don’t think that I need to remind you of our only rule in selling, so I guess you already know that to sell, you must first find the end. So in relation to your sales presentation always focus on that need of the prospect.

6. Believe in your product more than anyone else.

I would like to stress this last “icing” on your sales presentation since from experience I have often seen very good presentations but I see something lacking in the sales people selling it. And the lack is belief and confidence in their product. Never try to sell something that you don’t believe in. Your prospects will really sense. They will sniff it out of you and they will know that your selling a product that you don’t believe in.

Now that is what I call a sales presentation that is certain to close the sale. But also remember that what I stated above are merely guidelines in a sales presentation and not rules. So go ahead and test them for yourself and use the results that give you a higher sales call closing.

Well, that’s it for your sales mentor online. Happy selling and have a great weekend!Jake The Manhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04318814249020441013noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-935365342823725455.post-32635319838585544882011-06-19T09:04:00.000-07:002011-06-19T09:04:19.254-07:00Five Basic Sales Mentor Guidelines on Sales PresentationsToday is Father’s day, and I’m up on my computer to do a follow up on our current sales mentor lesson, which is about sales presentations.

We all know, that as sales people a high quality sales presentation will certainly help you close the deal but I’m surprised to learn that there are still many sales people that take for granted the importance of sales presentations.

I am again emphasizing that we as sales people need to continuously take advantage of the common human trait which is being highly visual. In fact, I think that’s the main reason why we invented the quote “to see is to believe” in the first place.

So as a sales mentor, here I am again sharing to you the basic principles that I personally use in my sales presentations. But please do note that even though this sales presentation techniques work for me, it doesn’t necessarily work for you. Just take note of my basic guidelines and you can change or improve some more.

So here are my basic guidelines:

1. Always lead the conversation to your next slide rather than just reading the presentation materials.

2. Always use visible fonts. Don’t forget to test if it’s really visible.

3. Use visual –pictures

4. Only use sales presentations as an add-on but always do the closing based on facts

5. Include actual examples or testimonials who have really tried your product

I could go on and on about the many basic guidelines, but to me they all sum up to the five sales presentation rules above.

So now that you my basic sales mentor guidelines for sales presentations, make sure you apply them on your next sales call. Believe me, sales presentations really help.

On our next sales mentor lesson, we will discuss more concrete examples and situations where sales presentations will really help.

See you next time and happy selling.

P.S. Please leave your comments below. I would really appreciate if I can hear from you. Thank you in advance.

P.S. 2 Happy Father's day to all Father's in the world.
To tackle this topic we need a little background in Psychology. Don't worry I'm not going to talk about parts of your brain or any Psychology concepts to make you understand this topic.

All you need to know as a salesperson is this; when you target audio 15% of the person's attention is with you; if you use audio with proper diction and voice stress you are able to target a preson's attention by 45%; and lastly if you use audio with stress and include visual aids in your presentation 95% of the person's attention is with you.

I'm stressing this point because I want to remind all people out there, that your visuals play a good role as well in closing any sale.

And also know that it is a combination of both audio-visual techniques that can get 95% of a prospects attention.

Although there are some cases that even if you do not have any visuals you could close the sale. This only proves that there certain customers that are really ready to buy from what you have to offer. The problem with any business is that an average of only 3.7% are ready buyers and the rest are buyers that need to know they need your product.

So to ensure that people listens to what you have to sell have really good visual aids in your selling. In fact this not only apply to selling but to promotion, advertising, and marketing as well.

Knowing this importance reminds you to have the end in mind that prospects need visuals as well.

That's all for today's sales mentor lesson. Next time we will talk of the "rules" of having effective visual aids.

Happy selling!
Actually it's more of a group of lessons as well.

First sales lesson and probably the most important is that how the royal family has "pre-sold" the wedding of a royal blood. Let's be totally honest with all of us, there just human beings. Hey they maybe of "royal" blood but aren't we all are? Jesus Christ died for us all, and only for princesses and princes of the world. In other words, this plain marketing and sales. This was hyped up by the previous royals that a prince being married is a dream come true for any woman. In other words, it has been embedded in the human brain that is really a "dream come true". The world has already been programmed to think this way. With only proves more, that this is a marketing issue.

Second sales lesson is that it is only a hype or in the case of a market trend - a fad. Once all the glitter is gone. The real faces will come out. Frankly I think, though many are supporting Prince William and Kate, there royals that are in agreement to the wedding. But since that public is in expectation, they will wait for the right moment to strike. I'm not saying we don't buy the hype, we should, but we also need to conscious in reading between the lines.

Third sales lesson, everybody loves an emotional story. We all know that as marketers and sales people, telling stories are the best ways to convince and close the sale. So they are telling the story so well that everyone is buying.

Well, I think I have said enough. To be honest, I am a fan of the wedding as well but I tend to look at things differently. Well see you at the wedding.

"The Ultimate Pause"

Hi everyone, welcome back to your sales basics techniques and strategies. Again, for this series we will continuously focus on sales closing techniques that will help you in your sales career.

So for this week’s sales mentor lesson on closing skills, we will talk about the “ultimate pause”. Honestly the “ultimate pause” closing technique is just a name I made myself. You can’t find it in technical sales books from Zig Ziglar or any sales book for that matter.

I call this technique ultimate because even with its simplicity, the result that it gives me has always been a surprise.

This sales closing technique is so simple, I believe that this should be the beginning strategies used by first time salespersons. So here’s the simple process of this sales closing technique:

Introduction – Body (sales presentation) – Q&A (preferably very short) – Pause – then get order (offer to buy)

That’s how simple this process. You just start with a very short and simple introduction like “Sir, would like to enjoy your computer more?”, if the answer is yes you proceed with entire presentation. Of course your presentation should include good visuals and emotional points. Or if you’re a telemarketer make sure that you tell an appropriate story so that the prospect can visualize it and be emotionally attached.

Once presentation is finish have a very short Q&A preferably between 5-10 minutes. Of course validate the questions first before actually answering.

Now do the ultimate pause (2 minutes). Don’t talk. Don’t ask anything. Just let the prospect browse through presentation and think.

Then finally get your order slip and ask him how many he will buy. You will be surprised of the results of this technique. It will surely give more sales in your monthly sales report.
Although this is given the fact that you made a good presentation, but never underestimate the power of the “ultimate pause”.

Now use this technique in your current call. Test it out. And you’ll find out for yourself if it’s really effective.

This your sales mentor online, saying happy selling.
This closing technique is called, the call to action.

I’ve had many experiences that have good products and good presentations yet at the end they forget something very important, and it is giving the prospect the “call” to “action”, otherwise known as the option to buy.

Remember that we are now leaving in a very busy world. Everyone’s in a hurry. If you take too much of their time or give them too many options, they won’t buy. Or worse, if the options are unclear, they would not buy either.

So how do you correct this?

Give them the option to buy right after the first sign of interest.

In fact it’s not even that necessary to finish a presentation. I even had a client before that because he trusted me so much, I would just send the product right away.

So for today’s sales mentor lesson, it’s a simple closing technique and a reminder to all salespeople as well. Give them to option to buy right away. Make it short. Make it brief and easy.

That’s if for today. Make sure to sign up to get my free ebook above.
The secret, they make on numbers.

For example if a normal salesperson can close 9 out 10 deals per day, a network marketer will make by talking to 100 people per day. Even if his product is not as popular as those sold by multi-national sales people he makes up in order. If he can close at least 20% of his prospects, then he has beaten the normal sales person by 110% of his closing numbers.

Although this is just a theoretical example since it would be impossible for anyone to talk to 100 prospects per day (except when using leverage), but the example shows why most network marketers earn more than high-paid sales people.

Applied to our topic (sales closing techniques), if you want to close more deals make sure to schedule more appointments. Although just like world renowned sales mentor Zig Ziglar, I too do not completely agree that you just increase your sales by making up in numbers, you also need to improve your selling skills as well.

So my suggestion for you is still make up in numbers and the same time, continue learning more closing techniques. Furthermore, as I have always expressed understand your customers more.

Well, that it for today’s sales mentor tip. Make sure to follow us next time.
Good luck in your sales next sales call!
Have you always been struggling on your selling? Well if you’re looking for a sales closing technique for any tangible product, today’s sales mentor lesson is one of the best closing techniques you can use.

This technique is called, the Puppy Dog Close. Yup, it’s really called that way, though it may sound irrelevant to sales closing. After I explain the entire concept of the Puppy Dog Close, I promise the name will all make sense.

Imagine yourself you going to a pet shop, wherein you plan to buy a dog for your son. While browsing the puppies in the glass window, you spot a very cute Golden Retriever puppy. So you go inside the pet shop ask the sales agent if you can hold him and somewhat “inspect” this very cute puppy.

At first you are joyful to cuddle the puppy, and you admire your cuteness. You are almost 90% convince that you are on verge of getting the credit card to pay for the cute Golden Retriever. But upon further thinking, you ask yourself – is my son going to like this puppy as well?

The sales agent then goes back to asking you, “well sir, should I give you the documents so that I can already own this cute puppy?”. Then you answer the sales agent, “honestly I like this cute puppy, but I’m not sure if my son will like it”. Then the sales agent answers, “if you really like the puppy sir, you can take it home and let your son and yourself spend time with it and if you don’t decide after a few days you can return it to our pet shop”. The prospect then proceeds to pay for the puppy with a condition to return within a certain period of time, hence this now is the Puppy Dog closing technique.

How’s that for a sales closing? You give the prospect more value by taking him another notch higher.

Why is this technique very effective?

First, you give the prospect a chance to fully feel your excellent product. Second, the product will penetrate the inner psychology of your prospect, wherein he will have a feeling of ownership once he has brought your product home. This psychology is so strong that 90% of the time, they no longer consider returning the product.

Third and most important, you already have very important information about the prospect like his credit card, name, address, contact information and email. Whether he returns the product or not, you continuously now have permission to send this prospect more information about the product. The information you send can be more powerful when you use promotional marketing and sales discounts to your prospect, giving him more reasons to buy.

Important note: The product you allow your prospect take home must be
of great quality to fit the prospects inner most desires and needs, so the closing of your prospects is 100% assured.

Well that's it for today’s sales mentor lesson.

So for today’s sales mentor tip, we will discuss a very common way to sell, especially on the long term. This concept is called the Free Concept.

Yup, I know you already have an idea from the title of the sales concept alone. Simply put, you give something for FREE in exchange for your prospects trust and to create tangible value for your product.

In my experience, this is one of the best ways to improve your sales without much effort on sales persuasion and sales presentations.

This technique is most effective when you are introducing a new product or a new line of products. But the problem here comes if for example your business or company has very limited, hence this getting more sales using the Free Concept is only good for businesses that have a good budget for the free. Although there are certain ways to apply the free concept to grow your sales but that is another future sales mentor lesson.

Going back to the Free Concept, essentially it has three parts. A Good product, a very good product, and a very excellent product.

You start by giving a Free sample of your good product then with a soft sale to your very good product or in exchange for valuable information like name, email and contact information. Of course, don’t forget to get the feedback from the new customer who just tried your product.

After that you continuously you add important information about your product, that again involves a soft sale to your very good product. Finally, once the customer has become a “fan” of your product then you hard sell for him to become a long term and loyal customer.

Starting from there on you leverage and take care of that relationship of trust that you have with your customer and further bring him more products to sell.

Well that’s it for this weeks sales mentor lesson. See you in our future sales lessons and sales trainings.
It’s been a while since sales mentor online has given you tips in your selling endeavor, and I must admit, life has certainly been blessing your sales mentor with many business opportunities.

I am now a fulltime entrepreneur and no longer depend on a job to make a living. Also that I have already given up my sales and distribution business in Bacolod City, Philippines. Though that sales business was also providing for me, it could not produce the passive income which I was looking for.

After my resignation as sales manager of the biggest local company in the Philippines, I am now FREE of a boss. I had already got over the feeling of being so needy of a job, and finally move to a better life of purpose and more selling success.

But here’s the thing, if you’re an avid reader of my sales mentor blog, I can no longer update my post as much I wanted to. Due to certain demands in my business and the many websites that I now maintain (as an Internet Marketer), my time is limited and dedicated to many businesses.

But don’t worry, I don’t intend to make a post and give all you sales people out there negative news. Since, I am back we will start with a new set of sales lessons.

Now you ask; how can this be possible when your sales mentor already declared that his busy?

Simple.

I will now use the daily “sales related” techniques that I apply in my daily life. And more importantly, this techniques are actual and updated where I evaluate the effectiveness and results of using that sales technique.

Excited? Well, if you are then great. Keep following my sales mentor lessons and I will share to you more selling tips in my future post.

Good luck!
In my years as a sales mentor and a salesperson as well, I have learn that there are really simple things that you can start right away that will help your selling efforts a lot easier than any other day.

This sales mentor technique is called the "genuine thank you".

There are a lot of high-paid sales directors and managers out there that have forgotten the essence of a real thank you. Of course they thank their bosses, like the CEO's or GM's of the company, yet they have trully forgotten how to say thank you.

So here I am again, your sales mentor knocking on your doors, that you allow me to share a little sales mentor lesson to remind you of how important a thank you is.

So first the step of a genuine thank you is be appreciative to everyone rather than being critical.

Most of us know that saying thank you, is a "branch" of gratittude but only a few realize that gratitude is also an accumulated attitude.

Don't just thank your customers, thank your spouse for her
daily care. Thank the janitor for doing a great job in cleaning your office. Thank your grumpy sales manager for pointing out your mistakes. Thank the barber that always gives an extra massage after your haircut.

Always remember, grattitude is an attitude. So be thankful as often as you can and you will not only improve your sales career but most especially your personal life as well.

The next step and the most important - thank yourself as well.

Yup, this is the most important way to really say thank you. As it is said, you cannot give what you do not have. So start by saying thank you to yourself first. As you appreciate and see the goodness in yourself, soon you will appreciate and see the goodness of everyone.

Lastly, be thankful even if your expectations are not meet.

This will be a bit weird but please bear with me.

I'm not saying you should become a soft-type-salesperson, that you no longer take courage to climb bigger mountains because you are already thankful of what you have. But you need to be grounded that not everything you expect will be done or successful.

After applying of these three steps, all of your thank you's will definitely be genuine. Though, I am not saying you should not say thank you now, but a genuine take thank you will take decades to practice.

Hope this lesson has help you. This is your sales mentor online.

Happy Selling.

After 15 years of trial, the final decision has been made on the Vizconde Massacre case. One the most in human crimes ever done in the Philippines, the Vizconde Massacre now to a close.

I am not a witness of the entire crime, nor was I there when the entire Vizconde Family was all brutally murdered (except for the father - Lauro Vizconde who went out of town), so I really have no right to judge. But as a sales mentor and as a fellow Filipino, I cannot help but site a few observations.

First

Is the Philippine justice system really that slow? I mean, whether Hubert Webb was guilty or not, it certainly does not have to reach 15 years for the court to fully on decide whether Mr. Webb is or not. There has to be some kind of way that we can shorten the process for justice. It is both painful and frustrating for both Mr. Vizconde and Mr. Webb.

Second

Sorry if I have to say this, but this is the only I can express my thoughts (through my sales mentor blog). In my opinion the DNA samples that acquitted the accused should have not been given of great value by the court. For the main reason of technology. Certainly, during that time DNA sampling and investigation was still not a part of the SOP of the NBI, so obviously it had been overlooked.

Third

I pity whoever the culprit was. I may have not been Hubert Webb who was the head of the suspects in the Vizconde Massacre, but the one who did is really in trouble. Maybe not on these world, but one day he will pay for his sins. If not to man, then he will have to pay to a higher power.

Fourth

I hope they both forgive each other. I know it sounds crazy most especially for Lauro Vizconde, but I think it's the only way they can fully attain peace.

Hubert Webb said he has forgiven the people who have done him wrong, and I hope Mr. Vizconde will be able to do likewise.

For whatever reason, I know one thing for sure, God has purpose.

We Filipinos might not understand now but it will all be clear one day.

Among the acquitted-accused of Vizconde Massacre was Antonio Lejano, Micheal Gatchalian, Pyke Fernandez, Miguel Rodriguez and Peter Estrada were also given the freedom.

I do not know what Mr. Lauro feels today, but I can only pray.

God will always bestow His justice in His due time.Jake The Manhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04318814249020441013noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-935365342823725455.post-42453254763508812852010-11-30T02:31:00.000-08:002010-11-30T02:31:34.234-08:00Learn from The Best SALES Mentor! As I started my sales career, I really didn't care much about learning from other sales mentors. I felt that reading and attending external sales trainings is only for people who couldn't really sell.

I was very eager to attend trainings about products, but I took for granted other sales trainings that I thought was a waste of time.

I only changed, once I attended a network marketing training. At that time I was not familiar with network marketing and really hated anything that had to do with that kind of business model.
But suddenly, I sat at that training was listening emphatically. And much more, I was near closing and convinced to invest my savings in that network marketing company.

After a weeks with the company, I became friends with that network marketing trainer and found out that he attended many sales trainings (both external and internal). Also that he read many sales training books and audios.

To make the story short, that instance in my life change my sales career for the rest of my life. Now, I am 101% an ambassador of getting sales training at anywhere possible.

And I would like to share this book (Secrets of Closing the Sale) and audio (The Secrets of Closing the Sale) to you so that you as well may learn from the very best sales mentor of all time (my personal opinion).

So as you local sales mentor, I advise you to get as many sales trainings as you can. I know at times, sales meetings and trainings tend to be boring. But rest assured, it's all worth it.

To give you a brief background:

iCarly is an American Teen Sitcom that focuses on the life of a girl named Carly Shay who decides to start a web show name iCarly, together with her close buddies Sam and Freddie. The show stars Miranda Cosgrove as Carly, Jenette McCurdy as Sam, Nathan Kress as Freddie, and many teen actors/actress that contributes to the fun and interest to its many viewers.

The show premiered on Nickelodeon last September 2007 and has been grabbing the public's attention months only after it's start. Now iCarly is already at it's fourth season, and again is still getting a lot of attention specially for the teens in different countries.

Now maybe some of you are wondering, what the heck this have to do with being a salesperson or a marketing person?

Well again there is a great sales mentor lesson to be learned from the show iCarly. Although I have to be honest, I've just taken notice of iCarly just a few weeks ago. (Of course, I'm a full grown so watching this kind of shows on a day to day basis would be weird, right?)

But the sales mentor lesson that I really admire from the show is "they do what they love". Yup, the show mostly shares teen humor that would be a bit corny for us adults but one thing is for sure, Carly and her friends do what they do because they love it.

This is how we should be as well in our careers. Actually, I prefer to say in life. To be fully happy, we have to do what we really enjoy/love.

So many are aware of this thought but only a few really dare to do so.

So whether you are in sales, marketing, media, engineering, human resource, showbiz, or whatever, but as long as you don't do what you love, success will always be far from your reach.

Like me, learn from iCarly and here friends. Do what you love and succeed on it!Jake The Manhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04318814249020441013noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-935365342823725455.post-87507171697162579542010-11-19T01:46:00.000-08:002010-11-19T01:50:46.641-08:00Harry Potter 7 - Deathly Hallows Part 1 Review
Yesterday, I really had a great time watching the official opening of Harry Potter 7 - Deathly Hallows. Together with my beautiful wife, we bought two large boxes of popcorn and one go large ice tea to complete our viewing of Harry Potter 7.

Although again, the movie could not compare to the details of the book, it was for me a good enough deal for 160 Pesos of two and half hour movie enjoyment.

Quite frankly, I'm not much of a movie buff and I can't really critic the movie as the "real movie critics" out there. But at least let me give my opinion as Harry Potter fan and as marketer.

First as a fan of Harry Potter, the "Deathly Hallows" book 7 is actually the revealing book of the entire Harry Potter series but I am sad to say that the movie was not able to clearly convey that. I think it had to focus on more situational conversations and flashbacks for movie watcher's better understanding.

Second, as a sales mentor I think that they should have focus more on marketing the fact that Harry Potter 7 Movie is split into two parts. Honestly, I was a bit disappointed on the fact that we would need to wait at least 10 months before we can see the finally.

I understand that this also a good marketing strategy, but it's gap shouldn't really be that long. I suggest that the makers of the movie should at least show to movie about 2-3 months after the first part.

Anyway, for all Harry Potter fans out there, the movie still is still worth the action. So go watch the movie now.

Have fun and enjoy.

By the way here's a full trailer of the movie just in case you still haven't seen it.

I know that I promised you a new set of sales mentor lessons for my coming post but I couldn't help but talk about the winner of Ms. Universe 2010 - Ms. Mexico.

While everybody would say that Ms. Mexico won because of her beauty and gorgeous smile (so gorgeous that it makes me melt) but I would disagree.

It would be better to say that Ms. Mexico went there to sell her way to the hearts of the judges and the entire Ms. Universe crowd.

What did Ms. Mexico do? She followed a basic sales process to close the deal with the judges of Ms. Universe 2010.

First, Ms. Mexico went through rigorous training before she could get to the international competition in the Ms. Universe 2010 pageant.

Second, Ms. Mexico kept providing the "needs" of the judges, the crowd, and entire Ms. Universe pageant.

Lastly, Ms. Mexico followed the very basic selling technique - she was always closing.

In fact, when it was down to only Ms. Jamaica and Ms. Mexico, she tried her best not to show her emotions and kept her beautiful smile.

In the end, she followed the very basic sales mentor process that I always teach - Sell your way to Success.

Congratulations to Miss Jimena Navaratte who took home the Ms. Universe 2010 crown. And to all the Ms. Universe 2010 contestants, Ms. Mexico out-sell all of you.

As always, I am amazed at the effectiveness of being able to understand the concept of selling and being able to use it in any situation necessary.

Just a while ago, I arrived late for my trip to Cebu City. To top it off, I didn't have a ticket and the boat was full. Actually, there were several of us who was under the same predicament. Most of them gave up and went back to the other ticketing office to buy tickets for the next trip.

Left there alone, I knew I could convince the crew and the guard to sell me an "extra" ticket so that I could go along with the trip. Besides what's the use of being a sales mentor if I couldn't convince a guard to sell me a ticket.

Of course, I was able to get one ticket by using simple sales and negotiation techniques. So here's how I did it.

First, I made casual conversations with the guard: like how hot the weather was, the people in his job, and many other stuff that made him comfortable.

Next, I then proceeded to ask him questions about the trip : why there was only one trip instead of two, why the boat was smaller, and the most important question, what would I need to do to get him to sell me another ticket.

I further explained why I needed to get to Cebu City at a specific time and the consequences. At that, he already showed non-verbal signs of "buying my sales pitch".

He then asked me if I could wait since he will ask for the Coast Guard's approval. I also made my "sales pitch" to the head coast guard and was so happy when he gave me the ticket. I paid for the ticket and gave the first guard a tip and profusely thanked the coast guard.

Actually since the sales process is so inherent in me, it is quite normal for me to sell anything. Specially if it's an idea with a sense of urgency.

Well, you would think that there's not much of a sales mentor lesson here right? WRONG. The story I just told you above shows a brief process of how effective a salesperson can be by using what I call the "Power of Negotiations". This will be our next set of sales mentor lessons for the coming weeks.

Actually this will be a very long series of lessons but I promise you this will be all worth your patience. This will help you to double your closing success. Jake The Manhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04318814249020441013noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-935365342823725455.post-83433147741638229662010-08-14T05:43:00.000-07:002010-08-14T05:43:49.218-07:00The Most Successful People Also Failed Tremendously

The last and probably the most important benefit you get from learning how to sell is, it allows you to fail more.
Although for most people, failing is a negative thing but I believe there is a great benefit from failing. And from my personal experience as a sales mentor, failing has been the main reason I have been successful.

Weird, right? But let me cite a few people who failed tremendously but became one of the most successful and influential people of their times.

First, King David of The Bible. He was an adulterer, yet he became one of the greatest kings the world has ever known. He conquered a lot of cities and lead many successful battles.

Micheal Jordan. I remember watching "Micheal Jordan's Playground" (a documentary of Jordan's greatest moves). He was asked why he is able to make so many winning shots. His answer was amazing. He said, "well I've just learned to make as many shots until the ball goes in."

President Abraham Lincoln. Many of us know that Abraham Lincoln was a great leader but he had a failing family life. He lead millions of Americans to a bright future yet he failed to keep his kids and family intact.

Albert Einstein. Obviously, Einstein discovered one of the greatest equation/formula of all time and was considered a brilliant scientist. Yet in his early years in school, he failed many subjects. He was even called stupid or dumb by some of his teachers. Now he is a total success in our eyes.

Need I mention some more? I personally think that there are already millions of successful people that "failed" their way to success. In fact, the right word for "failure" is not actually "failure" but "temporary setbacks".

So here's my intelligent advice to you as a sales mentor. Learn to sell your way to success.

By just selling, you get to fail more, and understand that failing is just a numbers game. At the start, many will say no (unless you have a product that is as important as air). But sooner or later, as you get better in selling, you'll have a higher percentage of success.

Thomas Edison said it best, "I am not discouraged because every wrong attempt discarded is another step forward". So go ahead and fail your way to success, or rather sell your way to success.Jake The Manhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04318814249020441013noreply@blogger.com
